Coach John has spent a lifetime using baseball as a vehicle to teach life lessons. A passionate supporter of youth development, he believes that sports—especially baseball—help prepare young athletes for success both on and off the field.

As a player, John was part of the Green Valley Little League team that advanced to the Junior League World Series in Michigan. At Green Valley High School, he was a four-year varsity starter and helped lead the team to four state championships. He continued his playing career at Cerro Coso College, where he was named both a preseason and regular season All-American, a two-time All-Conference selection, and still holds the school’s single-season record for doubles.

After Cerro Coso, John transferred to San Diego State University, where he played for two more years before injuries and a shift in focus paused his playing career. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Business from SDSU.

John was inducted into the Green Valley Hall of Fame and is also a two-time Legion State Champion. After his playing days, he coached the Green Valley Legion team to a state title before stepping away to build a career in medical device sales and raise his family.

When his children reached playing age, John returned to coaching—starting at Paseo Verde Little League, then with competitive travel baseball through the Las Vegas Pumas which later became CBA. In 2012, he launched the first NSA Stars baseball team with a focus on development and multi-sport athleticism and in 2013, he founded Nevada Sports Academy and later partnered with Coaches Rich Ebarb and Tim Soder to establish one of Las Vegas’ first high school feeder programs for Coronado High School.

After years of success building the NSA baseball program, John partnered with longtime friend and coach Denise Morris to launch the NSA Stars Softball Program in 2022, expanding NSA’s mission and reach.

Over the years, John has coached players at every level—from youth leagues to college-bound athletes. He’s passionate about mentoring athletes who are hungry to improve, and has helped many move on to play at the college and professional levels. While still active in the medical device field, John remains committed to developing young athletes and helping them grow both on the field and in life.
